Banking industry professionals in Nigeria under the aegis of Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria, CIBN, has completed arrangements to host its 14th Annual Banking and Finance Conference.
The forum scheduled for September 14 – 15, 2021, is themed, “ECONOMIC RECOVERY, INCLUSION AND TRANSFORMATION: THE ROLE OF BANKING & FINANCE”
Giving details of the conferences during a media engagement, Herbert Wigwe, Chairman, Consultative Committee of the conference said the event will be executed as hybrid – virtual and physical, with strict adherence to the COVID-19 non pharmaceutical precautionary protocols against the spread of the pandemic.
Wigwe, who is also GMD/CEO, Access Bank Plc, disclosed that the event will have
over 10,000 participants across the globe in attendance who would login virtually, through zoom teleconferencing.
“There will be two physical locations at the Congress Hall of Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja and Bankers House, Victoria Island, Lagos for the Conference. The virtual and the physical will hold simultaneously. Technology and innovation would be deployed for a seamless execution of the Conference onthe virtual and physical platforms.” said the chairman.
The Conference is an annual knowledge-sharing, and solution-based forum for all stakeholders i.e.policymakers, regulators, operators, service providers, members of the academia, clients of the Financial Services Industry and of course the banking public. It provides a medium for professionals within the Industry and beyond, to share experiences, exchange ideas and proffer pragmatic insights on contemporary issues affecting the sector and the economy.
According to Wigwe, “This year’s event is a paradigm shift from previous conferences, with a strategy to enhance the quality of knowledge shared and full comprehension of the various topics to be discussed at the Event. Unlike the previous events, this edition will present all the business sessions in the form of plenary sessions with a view to ensuring a comprehensive coverageof the subject of discourse.”
Continuing, he said as customary, the resolutions at the Conference will be made available to all relevant stakeholders and policy makers to enable them to re-appraise and align their operations/ strategies with global best practices.
The theme of the Conference, he explained is predicated on the need to reposition the banking and finance industry as a catalyst for economic recovery, inclusive growth, and transformation, thereby moving the future of Nigeria forward.

He assured that this year’s edition of the Conference will be unique and memorable, adding that apart from providing participants a veritable platform to connect with other professionals and industry stakeholders across the world, it promises to be intellectually stimulating.
The millennials, GenY and GenZhave been considered as part of the primary target group for this year’s Conference and adequate provision has been made for their robust involvement and participation, he said.
President Muhammadu Buhari, is expected to grace the occasion with his presence along with President Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda.
