Ed Ubong, Shell’s Managing Director Leads NGA’s 2020-2022 Executive Council

The Managing Director, Shell Nigeria Gas, Mr Ed Ubong has emerged President and set to lead the 2020-2022 Executive Council of the Nigeria Gas Association (NGA), the apex voice of the Nigerian natural gas industry.


Ed Ubong, who emerged by ascension having served as the 1st Vice President of the NGA, will lead an eight-member Executive Council to further advance the association’s strategic and deliberate gas advocacy for the next two years (2020 – 2022). This announcement was made by Mr Nathaniel Oyatogun, Chairman NGA Electoral Committee 2020 on Wednesday, December 9, 2020.


The newly emerged NGA Executive Council members of the council are:

  • Mr Ed UBONG, Managing Director, Shell Nigeria Gas – President by Ascension
  • Mr Akachukwu Nwokedi, General Counsel/Company Secretary Nigeria LNG Ltd – 1st Vice President by Ascension
  • Mrs Yetunde TAIWO, Managing Director, ANOH Gas Processing Company – 2nd Vice President-Elect
  • Engr Chichi EMENIKE, Head, Gas Ventures, Neconde Energy Ltd – Secretary-General Elect
  • Mr Emeka IHEME, Commercial Advisor Gas & Integration, Aiteo – Deputy Secretary-General Elect
  • Mr Dikko ATANU, CEO, Neoleum Energy – Financial Secretary-Elect
  • Mr Odianosen MASADE, Corporate Communications Lead, Eroton E&P – Publicity Secretary-Elect.
  • Mrs Dolapo KUKOYI, Partner, Detail Commercial Solicitors – Legal Adviser-Elect


The election, conducted virtually as part of the NGA Industry Multilogues featuring a 2-Day Virtual Business Forum and Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the association saw the emergence of the eight members into the NGA Executive Council.


The President-Elect, Mr Ed Ubong commended the outgoing executive council led by Mrs Audrey Joe-Ezigbo, Founder and Deputy Managing Director, Falcon Corporation Limited, for their dedication and impactful leadership to the association in the last two years. He also applauded the NGA Electoral Committee led by the Chairman, Mr Nath Oyatogun for a fair, transparent, smooth and successful first-of-its-kind virtual electoral process. Ed further stated that the newly elected members are ready to serve and build on the exemplary leadership laid by the outgoing leaders.


The newly elected Executive Council will formally assume office during the Association’s Biennial International Conference which will hold in February 2021.


Ed Ubong is the Managing Director of Shell Nigeria Gas Limited (SNG) and is responsible for leading the company and safely delivering its domestic gas growth aspirations. He joined Shell in 2001 after completing a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering from the Federal University of Technology Owerri and completing the Shell intensive Training Program (SITP) run by Robert Gordon University Aberdeen. He also holds a Masters Degree in Engineering from the University of Southampton, UK and an MBA from INSEAD (France, US, Singapore).


Ed is passionate about unlocking the domestic gas to the energy value chain.





Akachukwu Nwokedi is an accomplished professional with a career spanning over 20 years in NLNG. Mr Nwokedi has held several management positions spanning Human Resources, Strategy, Projects, General Services and Shipping. He is currently the General Counsel & Company Secretary of NLNG having been the Managing Director and Chief Executive of NLNG Ship Management Limited (NSML).


Mr Nwokedi is very passionate about the NGA and was the pioneer Legal Adviser. He was also one-time Secretary-General of the Association and has represented the NGA at the IGU. He spearheaded the creation of the NGA learning solutions and study group programmes amongst other NGA initiatives and is a former chairman of the NGA Conference Committee responsible for delivering the biennial International Gas Conference & Exhibition event.


A winner of the NGA Special Recognition Award (SRA), Mr Nwokedi, is a strong leader and motivator and has a strong proven track record in delivering on assignments. He is very active in the NGA as well as the oil and gas industry.





Yetunde Taiwo is the pioneer Managing Director of ANOH Gas Processing Company, “AGPC”, a flagship midstream gas processing company, formed by a partnership between Seplat and Nigerian Gas Company, “NGC”, a role she assumed in September 2019. As the Managing Director of AGPC, Yetunde manages the long term strategic objectives for the company and is responsible for building and operating a 300MMscf/d start-up gas processing business for the domestic market, set to go on stream in late 2021.


Before her new role, Yetunde led the Gas Business of Seplat as GM Gas where she drove Seplat’s gas production up to 400MMscfd, a record high for the company.


Yetunde graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Ibadan in 1990 and joined Chevron the next year as a production/reservoir engineer. She’s since worked and held numerous technical and leadership positions of increasing responsibility within Chevron, and other upstream companies like BG (British Gas), Nigeria, NAPIMS and Seplat over the past 30 years.


Yetunde is a member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) and the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE).




Engr. Chichi has over twenty (20) years experience in the Oil and Gas spanning across the upstream, midstream and downstream sectors. She holds a B.Eng in Chemical Engineering from Enugu State University of Science & Technology and an MBA in Oil & Gas Management from the Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen. She is a member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria (APWEN) and a certified member with the Council for The Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN).


Chichi started her early career in the Nigerian Oil & Gas industry as a Project Engineer with Exxon and moved on to other companies where she gathered diverse experience across the entire industry value chain.


Presently, Chichi is replicating her success strides in Neconde Energy Limited on OML42 as the Head, Gas Ventures where she is responsible for unlocking the company’s potentials of Associated Gas (AG) and Non-Associated Gas (NAG) of over 3.8tcf of Gas reserves for increased value optimisation for growth and profitability.






Emeka Iheme is a Chemical Engineer with 8 years of diverse experience across the Oil & Gas value chain including Oilfield Services (Turbines & Compressors), Management Consulting for start-up Exploration & Production Companies and currently serves as a Commercial Advisor Gas & Integration for Aiteo E&P operating the OML 29 JV Asset.


In this capacity, he played a key role in realizing over $5m in Gas Sales Revenue and negotiating the renewal of the OML 29 Gas Sales &Crude Handling Agreements with 3 Gas Off takers and 4 Crude Pipeline injectors. He provides research and strategic intelligence on gas commercialization, bid acquisition of upstream assets, gas processing project development (LNG, LPG, CNG) transportation and off take to indigenous and international organizations to help promote the growth of the Nigerian Gas industry.


As Deputy Secretary-General of the Nigeria Gas Association, he aims to bring innovation, market intelligence and strategic relationships to help the NGA build the local technical & commercial capacities of its members.





He started his career at Credit Suisse, whilst his energy career started at Global Energy, working on the first indigenous-owned, and operated barge-mounted LPG processing plant that achieved first gas in 2004.


Prior to Neoleum, he worked on new ventures, and corporate development for Afren, and its indigenous partners – Oriental Energy, Amni, Optimum, and Yinka Folawiyo Petroleum.


In public service, he served on the Economy and Finance sub-committee of the President Buhari Transition Committee in 2015.


He has advised a number of companies on gas including Folawiyo Aje Services, Gasol, Green Energy, Eland, and a small-scale LNG developer.





A consummate marketing communications strategist with a background in Physics and Mathematics, Odianosen possesses a decade long experience across financial services, marketing consultancy and the Oil & Gas industry.


Having held managerial roles in business development, corporate affairs and consultancy relationship where he has been actively involved in strategy formulation & planning, business analysis, market research, sales engagement & management and public relations and media.


These experiences have come from work with multicultural teams across the world. He has a Diploma in Business & Accounting from the ACCA, an Occupational Health & Safety certification with NEBOSH and is a member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR).





Dolapo Kukoyi is a Partner at Detail Commercial Solicitors and leads the firm’s Power and Gas to Power Practice. Her transactional experience includes advising the Central Bank of Nigeria and NERC on the 213-billion-naira Intervention Fund for the Nigeria Electricity Supply Industry. She has also advised clients on the development, financing, and acquisition of gas projects for power and industrial use as well as on legal and regulatory issues relevant to the gas industry.


Dolapo has served for the last two years as an Ex-Officio of the NGA Executive Council. Prior to which she served as a member of the NGA Investment Promotions Council. She is recognised as a Leading Lawyer, Corporate, M&A and Project Finance by the International Financial Law Review (IFLR). She is also one of 50 Most Impactful Social Innovators (Global Listing), World CSR Awards 2018.
