Electricity Distribution Company has announced that it has restored supply to all areas affected by the incident at Alagbon Transmission injection station where a 66MVA caught fire.
A statement by the company over the weekend said the restoration of supply was achieved through the combined efforts of engineers from the company and their counterparts from Transmission company of Nigeria(TCN) who were able to quickly effect a perfect back feeding arrangement while the repairs of the damaged transformer was on.
EKEDC’s spokesperson, Godwin Idemudia said the restoration of supply was a testimony to the quick recovery rate of the company during crisis period.
He expressed gratitude to all affected customers and the general public for their cooperation, understanding and sympathy while the power interruption lasted.
It would be recalled that a 66MVA power transformer belonging to Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) caught fire in the early hours of Thursday at the Alagbon 132/33kv transmission injection sub-station in Lagos.
The fire was quickly put out through the combined effort of firemen from NNPC, Union Bank, Federal Fire Service and Lagos State Fire Service.
Oriental News recalls that the fire incident resulted in power interruption in parts of Ikoyi, Moloney, Keffi and other parts of central Lagos.
EKEDC however assured its customers in the affected areas that there was no cause for alarm as measures had already been put in place to sustain power supply to affected areas through back-feeding from alternative power source.
