The Anambra State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, has reported that a high tension wire opposite St. Peters Clavers, along Nnewi-Nnobi road cut and fell on the roof of a shop, electrocuting two female adult victims.
The victims were rushed to Rose of Sharon Hospital by sympathizers, before the arrival of FRSC rescue team from Nnewi Unit Command.
The team on reaching the hospital, learnt that the doctors had confirmed them dead.
Equally, the Corps, reported an accident involving a Mercedes Benz 608 at Agulu Lake, along Ekwulobia-Awka road.
According to, RC Pascal A. Anigbo, Sector Public Education Officer, “At about 5.25pm today Monday 18 May, 2020 a Mercedes Benz 608 with registration number UMZ219ZS, was involved in a Road Traffic Crash (RTC), caused by brake failure.
Only One adult male was involved in the crash. No injury and no death recorded. FRSC operatives controlled traffic and ensured the removal of the truck.
The Sector Commander in the State, CC Andrew A. Kumapayi stressed on the importance of ensuring that vehicles are checked and serviced regularly, with particular interest in the braking systems, to prevent avoidable road mishaps.
He also, advised traders and shop owners not to build shops under high tension wires, urging them to seek approval from relevant authorities before construction of any structure, along the road.
