The Police in Delta State, have called for calm as it urged protesting youths to be law abiding.

In a press statement by DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, the Command called for calm following the Nationwide #Endsars protest which was later hijacked by suspected hoodlums with the attendant destructions of both Government and private property and loss of lives.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Hafiz Mohammed Inuwa, reassured members of the public of the Command’s commitment to ensure full compliance and implementation of all directives on Police reforms as may be approved by the Federal Government through Police authority to address all salient issues raised by the protesters so as to meet the yearnings and aspirations of members of the public especially the youths as regards the operations and performances of the Nigeria Police.

“On this note, in order to ensure amicable resolution of the social unrest, all Deltans are hereby advised to sue for peace and abide by the State Government directives as regards the curfew and also partner with law enforcement agencies so as to build a peaceful and viable Delta” the PPRO said.

According to Onovwakpoyeya, the Commissioner of Police equally calls on Deltans to stay at home, remain law abiding and eschew violence in all its ramifications.
