EndSARS Lawyer Prevented From Leaving Nigeria

Nigerian authorities on Monday, November 1, prevented a key strategist and lawyer for the #EndSARS protests, Modupe Chizoba Odele, also known as, Mochievous from travelling out of Nigeria.

Mochievous, a law graduate of Columbia University with passport number B5006060; revealed that her passport was confiscated at the Murtala Muhammad International Airport; while traveling to the Maldives for her birthday on November 2.

Ms. Odele’s friends said she accused the Defence Intelligence Agency of being responsible for her botched trip.

However, the DIA is yet to issue a statement regarding this development.

As a member of the Feminist Coalition, Mochievous initially asked that her matter should not be made public; but a newsletter she distributed on Monday night blew her ordeal on social media.

In a tweet after the issue was publicised, Mochievous reassured the public that she is fine; while advising everyone to steer clear of fake news.

She, however, stated that the reason for the confiscation of her passport is yet to be revealed; and her lawyers are working towards ensuring its release.
