Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, has assured that stranded Nigerians in foreign countries that are facing some challenges would be evacuated as soon as possible as plans are at advanced stage to kickstart the process.
He made the disclosure at the Presidential Task Force briefing on Tuesday, in response to questions on the plight of stranded Nigerians in India and other parts of the world.
He said that the new measures on evacuation and protocol initiated by the private sector, particularly Aliko Dangote and others, was for the betterment of the country and the citizens.
The new measures stated that evacuees would be tested from their host country.
“I would offer profound regret and apologies to our compatroits.
“We will do everything possible to get them back.
“The advantage of the new measures is that it would no longer require quarantining at home,” he said.
