FIRS Shuts Down Goldlink Insurance

Operators of the Federal Inland Revenue Services, FIRS, today invaded the corporate head office of Goldlink Insurance for alleged tax infraction.

The office located on Emmanuel street, Maryland was shut for several hours.

The operatives who came in numbers and backed by armed policemen chased away workers and took over the premises.

Our correspondent who witnessed the drama could not reach any management member of the company and could not also speak with any of the FIRS operatives.

However, a close source to the company said the office has been re-opened.

It cannot be ascertained how much Goldlink is owing at the time of filing this report.

Goldlink insurance account has been badly managed to prompt the intervention of the National Insurance Commission, NAICOM.

Following restructuring to turn around the fortunes of the ailing insurance company, at the Board Meeting of Goldlink Insurance Plc which held on the 25th of February, 2016, the National Insurance Commission appointed Alhaji Mohammed Bintube, Mr. Olanrewaju Suleiman and Barrister Tonbofa Ashimi as the new Interim Management Board of the Company with effect from 25th of February, 2016.

Alhj. Mohammad Bintube was appointed as Chairman of the Board of Directors with effect from 25th of February, 2016.

At the same meeting, Mr. James .O.Ayo , Alhaji Sashe Dabana, Prof. Chioma Kanu Agomo, Mallam Abubakar Mijinyawa and Amb. Umar Damagum were removed as Directors of Goldlink Insurance Plc. with an effort from 25th February 2016.
