FMC Technologies has confirmed its determination to widen its capacity building efforts in the West Africa Sub-Region.
The company said it is building momentum in nurturing strong leaders from countries such as Angola, Egypt, Ghana and Nigeria.
The company has continued to lay emphasis on developing people and skills across the continent, with future programs on mentorinh and coaching.
The initiative according to the company will be achieved through strong collaboration with educational institutions in the region particularly in the area of career development,job rotation/changing assignments, project management training; and additional leadership programs.
The company recently concluded a regional leadership program, in Ghana, during which sixteen members of its workforce participated.
The Management essentials course, designed by FMC Technologies University’s Talent Development group, was customized to fit the diverse population as well as the logistical requirements for the region.
The University which was launched in 2012, aims at giving employees the opportunity to advance their skills.
Management Essentials included modules on Transition to Leader; Cultural,DiversityHR Fundamentals and Crucial Conversation.
Participants were drawn from a variety of professional backgrounds including job responsibilities and cultural backgrounds.
Speaking about the training, Ajikere Abuchi, Surface Operation Supervisor, said “The training was the best I have ever had in my career and touched on every aspect of what I need to carry out my leadership responsibilities.
He continued, “In my 14 years of working with FMC Technologies, I have found that the company has a great regard for staff training and development. It gives staff the flexibility to acquire knowledge from other departments and encourages employees on their career paths, and that contributes to a conducive working culture and environment.”
The focus on collaboration between diverse cultures during the training resulted in building strong relationships and networks.
