The Vickyheldan Empowerment Foundation will host its 2026 Her Health, Her Power Conference Africa on August 20 at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja. The event, themed “Leading With Wellness for a Sustainable Africa,” will bring together doctors, policymakers, leaders, advocates, and women from across the continent to examine how healthier women drive Africa’s sustainable development.
Founder Dr. Victory I. Njoku said the conference is built on the belief that Africa’s progress depends on the wellbeing of its women. “Sustainable development must be led by healthy women,” she said. “But major gaps remain in access, funding, policy, and prioritization.”
The summit aims to ensure every African woman has fair access to quality care, can make informed health choices, and lives in a system that protects her dignity and productivity. Key goals include amplifying women’s voices on health equity, educating attendees on critical health issues, sharing stories of resilience, securing funding and partnerships, and dismantling stigma around sensitive health topics while defending women’s rights in healthcare.
Participants will take part in policy discussions, forge cross-sector alliances, contribute solutions aligned with global development targets, and join a continent-wide push for better women’s health outcomes.
This year’s focus areas cover maternal and reproductive care, mental health and emotional wellbeing, preventive care and healthy lifestyles, expanding access for rural and underserved women through outreach programmes, boosting women’s leadership and economic roles, and building partnerships for lasting social impact.
The programme will feature keynote speeches, policy dialogues, panel discussions, advocacy workshops, networking sessions, and wellness activities designed for women in underserved communities.
Confirmed keynote speakers include Ameenah Gurib-Fakim, former President of Mauritius, and Olufolake AbdulRazaq, First Lady of Kwara State, alongside leading health experts from Africa, Europe, and the United States.
Healthcare leaders present at the launch included Princess Akauor D., Chuks Anyaduba (President of HASDG Africa), and Pharmacist Piwa Peka. The conference is expected to strengthen advocacy and partnerships that improve women’s healthcare and accelerate Africa’s sustainable development.
