Controller Federal Operations Unit Zone ‘A’ Deputy Comptroller of Customs Turaki Usman Adamu has announced the siezure of 6,550 cartons of smuggled frozen poultry products.

Adamu also said the unit has deployed undercover operatives to monitor all the flash points and ensure that Nigerians are not fed with the unwholesome products.

Adamu who made the disclosure through Assistant Comptroller of Customs Adamu Abubakar Mohammed, the Officer In Charge of Lagos Roving Operations spoke the need to ensure proper monitoring of areas under its supervision.

He noted that the unit has taken some far reaching decisions geared towards heightening patrol activities during the ember month when activities are usually on the increase.

‘We are not pleased with the tendency of smugglers to flood the country with these products and we will stop at nothing in enforcing the fiscal policies of Government in terms of trade’ he said.

He also disclosed that the unit seized another 3,462 cartons of assorted poultry products along Isheri-Berger axis by a patrol team led by Assistant Comptroller Jatau Micah Garba.

‘We are calling on Nigerians to partner with the Nigeria Customs Service in this fight against smuggling. The Federal Operations Unit under D/C Turaki Usman Adamu will leave no stone unturned in his quest to rid the South West of smuggling activities’ he assured.
