There is a fresh reported attack on Tutuwa community in Taraba State, on Wednesday, has led to the death of nine people.

The attack by suspected Fulani herdsmen reportedly occurred at about 5 a.m.

Confirming the attack to newsmen was the Chairman of Ussa Local Government Council, Hon. Rimansikwe Karma.

Hon. Karma revealed to reporters that the suspected herders also left three residents of the community severely injured.

“Every Wednesday morning, the community used to conduct mid-week service and most of them were on their way to the Church in the morning when the armed Fulani militia attacked them,” Karma told newsmen.

“Nine persons were killed and three others sustained life-threatening injuries and are currently receiving treatment at the Takum General Hospital.

“The Deputy Commissioner of Police, Aliyu Tafida, and heads of other security agencies are on the ground in Ussa Local Government Area to assess the security situation.

“But unfortunately, the attackers left before the arrival of the security agencies,” he said.
