The Group Managing Director of Rainoil Limited, Dr Gabriel Ogbechie is the winner of Downstream Man of the Year for 2018.

His choice was announced to an audience of energy experts, petroleum industry bigwigs, public sector personalities, a cross section of thought leaders and celebrities who attended the Nigerian oil industry at the annual Oil Trading and Logistics Conference 2018 held in Lagos last week.

The suave entrepreneur who founded Rainoil Group of businesses in 1994 and has grown it into a major player in the oil and gas sector, expressed gratitude to the event organisers for the worthy honour.

He described the recognition as “a culmination of hard work and commitment to the downstream sector of the Nigerian oil and gas industry for the past 26 years.”

On the night, Rainoil Limited, which began operation in 1997, was also presented the Merit Award for Industry Impact for its innovative oil retail operations in recent years.

Dr Ogbechie said the recognition would encourage the Rainoil team to redouble their efforts and deliver continued innovation, efficiency, service and sustainability in their operations across the country.

An integrated downstream oil and gas company, Rainoil Limited has become the go-to petroleum marketer in the country given its tested capability that cuts across the entire downstream value chain, including petroleum product storage, haulage/distribution and retail sales.
