Gas supply constraints is currently taking toll on electricity generation in Nigeria.
The Nigerian Electricity System Operator (SO), a department of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) disclosed that it recorded 2,933Mw as lowest energy generation on April 12, 2021.
According to its system performance for the day under review, there was a record of 4,587 Megawatts, MW, peak generation.
The data noted the SO recorded a total generation of 3,992MW sent out 3,928 MW.
TCN’s General Manager, Public Affairs, Mrs. Ndidi Mbah attributed this to gas shortage.
“Generally, there is gas constraint now,” she said.
For some days now, customers of distribution companies have been grappling with load shedding.
