The 2025 Annual Conference of the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP), scheduled to hold at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos, is going to address governance realities in Nigeria.

This year’s conference, the ninth in the GOCOP series, will focus on the theme: “Reconciling Campaign Promises with Governance Realities: Challenges and Prospects.”

According to a press statement signed by the Publicity Secretary of GOCOP, Ogbuefi Remmy Nweke, the Conference Planning Committee Chairman, Danlami Nmodu, mni, who also doubles as GOCOP’s Deputy President, stated that preparations have been concluded to ensure a successful and impactful event.

Nmodu noted that the 2025 conference seeks to generate actionable strategies for bridging the gap between electoral promises and effective governance in Nigeria and Africa at large. The event will feature a distinguished keynote speaker, alongside panel discussions by experts across media, governance, and policy sectors.

He added that the conference provides a unique platform for dialogue among online publishers, policymakers, and industry leaders, in line with GOCOP’s mission to promote responsible and ethical journalism in the digital era.

Nweke recalled that past GOCOP conferences have featured eminent personalities such as Rev. Matthew Hassan Kukah, Mr. Boss Mustapha, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, Professor Uche Uwaleke, and former Governor Liyel Imoke, who have addressed critical national issues including the economy, security, elections, and digital transformation.

GOCOP, a professional association of 120-member organisations, comprises publishers, editors, and senior journalists who have transitioned from traditional media to online platforms, championing credibility and professionalism in digital publishing.

Nmodu emphasized that the 2025 conference also offers strategic sponsorship and partnership opportunities for brands seeking visibility and engagement with high-level journalists, editors, and decision-makers.

For partnership and sponsorship inquiries, interested organisations are encouraged to contact the GOCOP Conference Committee.
