Gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen have killed no fewer than 32 persons in Nasarawa State.

The killings took place between Saturday and Sunday across several villages.

Areas affected by the attack included Awe, Keana, Obi and Doma Local Government Areas.

Villagers fleeing from the attack, which the spokesman of the Nasarawa State Police Command, Kennedy Idirisu, said was yet to abate by Monday morning, were reportedly seen in different parts of the state capital, Lafia, taking refuge.

Idirisu said: “There was an attack on Monday morning, but the command has yet to receive details as regards the number of people that lost their lives in the early hour attacks by unknown gunmen.

In another development, gunmen suspected to be herdsmen have killed four policemen in Benue State, while 11 others are still missing.

The killing took place on Sunday at about 6pm.

The spokesman of the Benue State Police Command, Moses Yamu, confirmed the development.

The policemen were attacked in Anyibe, Logo Local Government Area of the state.

Yamu said the command’s “personnel came under attack by insurgents at Anyibe, Logo Local Government Area of the state between 18.00 hours of yesterday, 15 of April, 2018 and early morning of date (Monday.) Sadly at the moment, four casualties have been suffered by police.”

He said the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, had deployed more policemen in the area.

He said the attackers would soon be arrested and be made to face the wrath of the law.
