The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, in Anambra State has a reported an incident involving a hit and run driver which injured a male adult in Asaba, Delta State.
According to spokesman of the Command, RC Kamal Musa, “At about 1245hrs, a hit and run driver in a Mitsubishi L300 bus whose identity was not captured according eyewitnesses, knocked down a bus Conductor male adult who was scouting for passengers from the other side of the express way at Asaba park, Upper Iweka Onitsha, today 24th August, 2020.”
Musa said the victim was rushed to Toronto Hospital Onitsha for medical attention by FRSC rescue team from Upper Iweka Out post and normal traffic flow restored.
The Sector Commander Federal Road Safety Corps Anambra State, CC Andrew A. Kumapayi, while wishing the injured victim quick recovery strongly warned road users against crossing the expressways.
“Pedestrians must endeavour to always use pedestrian bridges, to avoid being knocked over by vehicles plying the expressway” he advised warning drivers against speeding.
“Drivers should always drive with common sense speed limits so that they can easily control their vehicles, in the event of any emergency. A maximum speed limit of 50km/hr is recommended for cars, within built-up areas.” he appealed.
