..Police Jumpstarts Investigation

The Police in Lagos has said that five children from the same family were burnt to death in Lagos.

The police, said the children, who were left by their mother, Florence Asoye, in the care of one Suliat, were burnt beyond recognition.

The spokesman of the Lagos State Police Command, Bala Elkana, said the case was reported at Takwa Bay Police State on August 7, 2019 at about 10:30am, but the incident happened on August 6, 2019.

Elkana said the mother of the children left home at about 6:30pm to Takwa Bay Jetty, in the care of Suliat.

However, by the time she returned, her room had been completely razed by fire.

She said Suliat locked the children in the room and left for an unknown destination.

The children, who burnt beyond recognition, were Folake Ogundiya ‘f’ 13; Abigail Ogundiya ‘f’ 8; Daniel Bakare ‘m’ 6; Chidima Achomye ‘f’; Nnamdi Achomye ‘m’ 2; and Khadijat ‘f’ 1.

Elkana said already a team of Detectives led by the Divisional Police Officer had visited the scene. 

Also, the police is investigating the death of a female lodger found Dead in a Hotel Room in Lagos.

Elkana, said that “Morogbo Police Station received an information that one Jessica ‘female’ a lodger in Southbound Hotel, Morogbo was found dead in her Hotel room. Homicide Detectives visited the scene. Corpse of the deceased person was found on the bed facing up, with swollen face and foam- like fluid out of her mouth. Her throat was knotted with clothes suggesting that she might have been strangulated. There were blood stains all over the place. The corpse was evacuated to mortuary for autopsy while the scene was preserved for forensic analysis”

Elkana stated further that the Commissioner of Police Lagos State, CP Zubairu Muazu  has ordered the State Criminal Investigation Department Yaba to take over the investigation.
