Huawei Lagos Openlab To Boost Nigeria’s Electricity Industry

Huawei, a global Information and Communications Technology solutions provider, has said its new laboratory in Lagos will offer huge support to Nigeria’s electricity supply industry.

The company inaugurated what it called Lagos Openlab and signed a series of collaborative memoranda of understanding during the West Africa Power Industry Convention in Lagos.

The Lagos Openlab, which is the first open laboratory in West Africa, integrates and shares all resources and ability of Huawei globally, with power industry solution, such as Internet of Things, Advanced Metering Infrastructure and distribution automation.

It said the lab would serve as a joint innovation platform between Huawei and West African governments, enterprises, customers, partners to accelerate the regional construction of the ICT ecosystem and build a better connected intelligent grid.

The Managing Director, Huawei Technologies Company Nigeria Limited, Mr. Frank Li, said, “Huawei is committed to build a more intelligent connected power grid, and provide smart grid technology for Nigeria and West Africa countries to meet the power supply requirement for economic development and people’s lives.

“Huawei Lagos Openlab will serve as an open cooperation platform to provide more advanced industry solution for West African governments, enterprises, customers and partners.”

According to the statement, Huawei has served the power industry for more than 20 years with products and solutions widely used by more than 165 power customers in 65 countries around the world.
