The outgoing 52nd President of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN), Mrs. Yetunde Ilori, has assured of her unflinching support to the continuous growth and development of the Nigerian insurance industry
Ilori, said her stepping down is not in anyway affect her contribution towards insurance development.
She made the pledge today during her valedictory victual press conference held in Lagos, where she reviewed her two-year tenure and highlighted the major milestones recorded under her administration.
Ilori recalled that the strategic direction of her administration was fully guided by her flagship E.P.I.C initiative, which stands for Education, Professionalism, Institutional Recognition and Capacity Building.
She noted that the initiative succeeded in bridging the critical knowledge gap between insurance practitioners and consumers, thereby driving financial literacy and deeper market penetration.
According to her, the E.P.I.C framework also laid the foundation for the highly successful maiden Insurance Industry Week Celebration, an event designed to celebrate outstanding professional excellence, foster innovation, and enhance public confidence in the sector.
A key highlight of her tenure was the strategic repositioning of the College of Insurance and Financial Management (CIFM). Mrs. Ilori stated that under her watch, the college has evolved into a dependable hub for human resource development and technical capacity building within the financial services sector.
She commended the active support of underwriters and key industry figures in executing infrastructure upgrades and expanding the college’s academic programs.
She further highlighted that the achievements recorded during her presidency were made possible through deliberate and collaborative partnerships with other arms of the insurance industry, notably the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM), the Nigerian Insurers Association (NIA), and various broker associations.
Ilori, assured of she will continue with engagment process in key development areas within the financial system, with a strong focus on insurance broking and regulatory compliance.
Crucially, she will be channeling her experience into public service as a member of the newly inaugurated federal Insurance Policyholders’ Protection Fund (IPPF) Committee.
Established under the landmark Nigerian Insurance Industry Reform Act (NIIRA) 2025, the IPPF is designed to serve as a critical financial safety net to protect consumers and rebuild trust in the event of insurer distress or insolvency.
Beyond her professional commitments, Mrs. Ilori announced her intention to dedicate significant time to pastoral work, committing herself to spiritual leadership and the spiritual and structural growth of her church.
“I feel deeply fulfilled as I hand over the mantle,” Mrs. Ilori said, ahead of the formal investiture of the 53rd CIIN President, Mr. Akinjide Orimolade, scheduled for July 17, 2026. “My commitment to the insurance sector does not end with my presidency; I will continue to serve the industry in every capacity possible to ensure its long-term stability and success”.
