Igbo forum urges Anambra residents to troop out to vote

The Concerned Igbo Stakeholders Forum has urged Anambra residents to troop out en masse to vote for the governorship candidates of their choice on Saturday, Nov. 6.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission will conduct the Anambra gubernatorial poll on that day.

The forum spokesman, Mr Chukwuma Okenwa, disclosed this while speaking with NAN on Thursday in Enugu.

Okenwa urged Anambra residents to discountenance all forms of propaganda and threat to the election.

He urged residents to go out and exercise their right, in order to get the best candidate.

“Notwithstanding the gloomy security picture being painted, our people in Anambra should exercise their franchise by going out there and voting in the governor of their choice.

“I urge security personnel to be professional and be guided by the electoral rules.

“INEC should not only be seen as being fair but also transparent in all its undertaking concerning the election.

“Every political party vying and presenting a candidate for the governorship election must be given a level playing field,” he said.

He urged residents to conduct themselves in the most civil manner and ensure peace while casting and protecting their votes.

“The security personnel on ground are there for our good. Our people should see them as friends,” he advised. (NAN)
