The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr Mohammed Adamu, has been given an extension as Nigeria’s Police Chief despite the expiration of his tenure.

President Muhammadu Buhari gave the approval for the extension of the tenure for a reason known to him.

Muhammad Dingyadi, the Minister of Police Affairs, announced this on Thursday, February 4; while briefing the media at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.

It was earlier reported that Buhari had appointed Zanna Mohammed Ibrahim, an Assistant Inspector-General as the acting IGP.

However, this changed with the announcement; that the current IGP would continue in his position.
