The Innovative Media Partners Cooperative Multipurpose Society (IMPCMS) has expressed shock over the death of its pioneer President, Mr. Dotun Oladipo.

He passed away suddenly on Tuesday, 25 August 2026, in Lagos, at the age of 56.

Mr. Oladipo was Founder and Publisher of The Eagle Online and Managing Director/CEO of Premium Eagle Media Limited.

He also served as President of the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP) from 2017 to 2021, and remained an Emeritus President of the Guild thereafter.

He was also the pioneer President of IMPCMS, an organisation he helped establish to promote collaboration, training, and sustainability among Nigerian media professionals.

His journalism career spanned nearly three decades, beginning in traditional print media with organisations including Newswatch, PUNCH Newspapers (where he rose to Politics Editor), Nigerian Tribune, Nigerian Compass, and The Sun, before he became one of the early pioneers of digital publishing in Nigeria with the founding of The Eagle Online.

Mr. Oladipo was taken ill suddenly at his office on the day of his passing. No official cause of death has yet been announced. He is survived by his wife and family.

Speaking on behalf of the cooperative, the Secretary, Nkanu Egbe, said Mr. Oladipo led IMPCMS with dedication and vision, and that his death represents a devastating loss not only to the cooperative but also to Nigerian journalism as a whole. The Society noted that his contributions to media collaboration and professional development in Nigeria leave an enduring legacy that will continue to guide the organisation’s work.

The Society extends its heartfelt condolences to the family of Mr. Oladipo, the management and staff of The Eagle Online and Premium Eagle Media Limited, and his colleagues across the Nigerian media industry.

May his soul rest in peace.
