Indian utility vendors and services are exploring Africa’s huge market and in particular the West Africa’s energy sector.
Dr. Rajeev Singh, the Director General and CEO of the Indian Chamber of Commerce ICC who is representing India as the featured country partner at the upcoming Future Energy Nigeria, hosting a pavilion of almost 50 suppliers of specialised technology and services for the energy sector, said the country presents huge opportunity in the continent.
Future Energy Nigeria will once again host many of the country’s leading energy decision makers in the power value chain from 7-8 November 2017 at the Eko Hotel and Suite Convention Centre in Lagos.
As the country partner at Future Energy Nigeria Dr Singh says “the primary objective of the ICC is to connect over 1800 C-level industry professionals across the full spectrum of the sector to address today’s challenges and implement tomorrow’s solutions.”
He says visitors to the Indian pavilion will be able to “interact and network directly with Indian vendors who have specialized in the energy sector. Visitors can also see the products and services covering generation, transmission & distribution, metering, renewables and new technologies. Visitors can furthermore establish distribution channels.”
Asked what Nigerians can learn from the experience of the Indian utility sector, the ICC CEO says: “energy is one of the major drivers of a growing economy such as India and Nigeria. I believe that Nigerians can follow the same given India’s vibrant entrepreneurial culture, history of technology innovation and the vast domestic market, the country is ideally positioned to capitalize on the advantages that renewable energy has to offer. Although renewable energy technologies currently represent a fraction of the energy market in India, they have tremendous potential to undergo rapid growth and provide an alternative solution to fossil fuels.”
