The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has extended the date  for the collection of Permanent Voters Cards (PVC) by three days.

The PVC collection  was scheduled to end on February 8. INEC has however extended it to Monday, February 11.

While speaking at a meeting with Resident Electoral Commissioners (REC) in Abuja on Friday, chairman of INEC, Mahmoud Yakubu, said the decision was as a result of complaints received by the agency.

The INEC boss said officials will work on Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m to 6 p.m. adding ,the extension of the deadline is to ensure no eligible Nigerian is disfranchised because of their inability to collect their PVCs.

There have been complaints by Nigerians over the difficulties they encountered in trying to collect their PVCs.

Recall that the PVC collection have caused negative reactions from Nigerian, even as the agency has assured to resolve the issue amicably.

INEC has also fixed February 16 for the presidential election.
