International Drilling And Production Projected To Boost Halliburton’s Revenue Growth

Enhanced international drilling and production activity has been projected

to support revenue growth and stronger operating margins of Halliburton

in 2027, even without a recovery in U.S. hydraulic fracturing, signaling a shift in where the oilfield services industry expects to generate future earnings.

The Houston-based company forecast mid-single-digit revenue growth next year and operating margins of approximately 15 per cent, an improvement of roughly 200 basis points.

Management said its outlook assumes flat North American activity rather than a rebound in domestic pressure pumping demand.

Halliburton reported third-quarter revenue of $5.7 billion and adjusted earnings of $0.60 per diluted share. Adjusted operating income reached $731 million, representing a 12.8 per cent margin.

International revenue increased 3 per cent sequentially to $3.5 billion, while North American revenue declined 5 per cent to $2.2 billion.

The regional performance illustrates the changing composition of demand for drilling, completions, and production services.

Halliburton’s Middle East and Asia operations generated approximately $1.4 billion in quarterly revenue, an 8 per cent sequential increase, supported by stronger activity in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.

The company expects efforts to restore disrupted production, replenish petroleum inventories, and strengthen energy security to create multiyear demand for oilfield equipment and services.

International development opportunities also extend beyond the Middle East. Halliburton identified growing activity in Latin America and continued opportunities in drilling technology, artificial lift, and production optimization.

The outlook contrasts with conditions in the U.S. hydraulic fracturing market, where operators have remained cautious about expanding completion programs.

Lower pressure pumping activity contributed to weaker North American revenue during the third quarter, although management indicated that selective crew redeployment and improved pricing could support future profitability.

For oilfield service investors, the distinction between revenue growth and margin improvement is important.

International projects can provide opportunities for longer-duration contracts and broader service offerings, but profitability depends on equipment utilization, mobilization expenses, execution costs, and contract pricing.

Halliburton also expects internal cost reductions and operational improvements to contribute to its targeted margin expansion.

The company’s strategy reflects a broader industry emphasis on generating stronger returns from existing equipment and technology investments rather than relying exclusively on higher activity levels.

For exploration and production companies, continued access to efficient drilling and completion services remains important to controlling development costs and maintaining production.

Meanwhile, demand for equipment supporting international projects could create opportunities across manufacturing, engineering, logistics, and energy infrastructure.

Halliburton’s forecast is not without risks. Geopolitical disruptions, project delays, customer spending decisions, and commodity price volatility could affect international activity.

Management expects fourth-quarter revenue of approximately $5.7 billion, with additional operating margin improvement.

Investors will be evaluating whether international contract execution, service pricing, and cost reductions support the company’s 2027 financial targets.

Halliburton’s outlook suggests that oilfield services growth may increasingly depend on international production investment and operational efficiency, even if U.S. shale completion activity remains subdued
