Chevron Nigeria Limited (CNL), operator of the joint venture between the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC)and CNL, has announced the appointment of Jeffrey Ewing as chairman and managing director (MD) of Chevron companies in Nigeria, effective January 1, 2017.

Ewing succeeds Clay Neff, who has been named President of Chevron Africa and Latin America Exploration and Production (CALAEP), with effect from January 1, 2017. Ewing, who is currently the Director, Deepwater & Production Sharing Contracts (PSCs) for the Nigeria Mid-Africa Business Unit, will be responsible for Chevron’s upstream operations in Nigeria and West Africa in his new position.

According to a statement by the company’s General Manager in charge of Government and Public Affairs, Mr. E.O Brikinn, the new MD joined Chevron in 1985 as a Drilling Representative in New Orleans after graduating from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering.

The statement added that since then, he has held numerous technical and management positions of increasing responsibility in different locations; including Democratic Republic of Congo, Indonesia, Kuwait, Scotland, the United States of America, Venezuela and Nigeria.

Brikinn quoted Neff as saying that Ewing was appointed to the position based on his “demonstrated leadership, breadth of experience and proven ability to build effective relationships with key stakeholders.”

Neff succeeds Ali Moshiri, who is retiring, effective April 1, 2017 per the company’s mandatory retirement policy.
Neff’s appointment was effective January 1, 2017, the San Ramon, Calif.-based company said.
As president of Chevron Africa and Latin America Exploration and Production, Neff will oversee E&P in 15 countries across Africa and Latin America.

He will report to Jay Johnson, the executive vice president for upstream.

Neff obtained a bachelor’s degree from Louisiana State University in 1984 and joined Chevron as a drilling engineer in 1985.

At Chevron, he has worked in engineering, operations, commercial and management positions across the US, Angola and Nigeria.
