The Governor of Kaduna State, Malam Nasir Elrufai has extended the Lockdown orders in the state for another 30 days, from 26th April 2020 to 25th May.

He tweeted about this on Sunday, adding that the decision followed a recommendation by the State Standing Committee on Covid-19, chaired by his Deputy Hadiza Balarabe.

He also ordered that the lockdown would be relaxed only Wednesdays.

He said the lockdown had to be extended because of the rising covid-19 cases in the Federal Capital Territory and other surrounding states.

He also quoted the committee, saying that interstate travels was one of the reasons the disease was spreading.

“All persons that venture out of their homes for whatever reason must wear facemasks and observe social distancing everywhere they go, in markets and in authorised vehicles.

” Government is making efforts to provide facemasks for poor and vulnerable residents,” he tweeted.

He also added that only essential services are exempted but also added that mobile courts have been empowered to prosecute violators.

He also banned entry into the state till further notice.
