The multi-billion naira International Terminal currently under construction at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airportis to be completed in March 2016.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Aviation, Hjiya Binta Bello, gave the assurance while inspecting ongoing projects at the airport in Kano on Monday.

She expressed satisfaction with the quality of work being executed at both the Control Tower and the terminal.

‘’The construction work at the International Terminal has advanced to the roofing level, while the front view of the Terminal building will be completed in 20 days time, based on the assurance from the construction firm,’’ she said.

Bello said the construction of the terminal was ongoing simultaneously in four locations across the country.

She said the places were Abuja, Port Harcourt, Lagos and Kano, pointing out that the pace of work at the Kano terminal was at the roofing level.

The Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mr Saleh Dunoma, said no fewer than 10 million passengers, both international and local, flew via the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) annually.

Dunama, who was in company of the Permanent Secretary, said the influx of passengers to MAKIA had increased tremendously, due to the state-of-the-art facilities that attracted foreign airlines.

He said the Kano terminal project would be the first to be completed among other three on-going terminals.
