The Katsina Police Command has rescued kidnapped victims from their adductors, after a gun battle.
According to Gambo Isah, Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, “On 11/03/2020 at about 23:50hr, bandits numbering twelve, on motorbikes, shooting sporadically with AK 47 rifles, attacked Yan Maiwa village, Batsari and kidnapped a mother and her daughter Binta Abdullahi, f, aged 35yrs and Baraka Abdullahi, f, aged 15yrs, all of Yan Maiwa village, Batsari LGA of Katsina state respectively.
Operations Puff Adder and Sharandaji comprising police and military were mobilized to the scene and blocked the likely exit route of the hoodlums.
Fortunately, the bandits followed the route and the team engaged them into a gun duel.”
Isah, said the hoodlums abandoned their mission, and escaped into the dreaded Rugu forest while the joint operation rescued the victims alive and unhurt.
He said search party are still combing the forest with a view to arrest the fleeing suspects who might have escaped with gunshot wounds and also to recover their operational weapons.
