The Katsina Police Command in collaboration  with the state government and some leaders of the repentant bandits have rescued the district head of Wuya Alhaji Umar Usman  and thirteen other kidnapped victims.

This was made possible with the ongoing peace and reconciliation initiative of Zamfara state government being spare headed by Commissioner of Police, CP Usman Nagogo.

It would be recalled that on 21th March, 2020, unidentified armed men stormed Wuya and Yartasha Wuya villages of Anka LGA and kidnapped the said district head and thirteen (13) others.

While handing over the victims to His Excellency the Executive Governor of Zamfara State Dr. Mohammed Bello Matawalle, the Commissioner of Police, CP Usman Nagogo told the Governor that the kidnapped victims were rescued in collaboration with some repentant bandits following an intensive engagement  and further assured that more kidnapped victims will soon be rescued.

In his remarks, the Commissioner for Security and  Home affairs Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar Dauran informed  the Governor that all the rescued victims are Hale and hearty. He thanked the Governor for adopting dialogue as a way to bring lasting peace in the state.

In his response, Governor Mohammed Bello Matawalle commended the Police and other security agencies, particularly the Commissioner of Police, the Commissioner for Security and  repentant bandits for this laudable effort and assured them that his government will continue to sustain the ongoing peace process in the state, and further vowed to take decisive action against the recalcitrant bandits that refused to accept the peace pact.

He however warned YANSAKAI to desist from extra judicial massacre of  Fulani, otherwise they will face the full wrath of the law.
