Kogi State has recorded two confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, May 27, 2020.
The two new cases in Kogi State were disclosed as part of the daily updates released by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
The NCDC confirmed the addition of Kogi to the list of states with the COVID-19 cases via a tweet posted on its verified handle on the micro-blogging site, Twitter.
‘‘On the 27th of May 2020, 389 new confirmed cases and 5 deaths were recorded in Nigeria. One new state (Kogi) has reported a case in the last 24 hours. Till date, 8733 cases have been confirmed, 2501 cases have been discharged and 254 deaths have been recorded in 35 states and the Federal Capital Territory,’’ the NCDC disclosed.
Indeed, there has been a lot of controversies over the absence of COVID-19 cases in Kogi State.
The concerns had mainly originated from the fact that; the state is bordered by states that have recorded significant confirmed cases of COVID-19.
Also forming a source of concern was the absence of rigorous restrictions by the Kogi State Government.
