Kwara State is a major beneficiary in the latest Rural Electrification Agency (REA),N9 billion mini-grid projects support. Other States include Taraba, Kogi and Niger States.

The projects are part of efforts to expand renewable energy access.

According to a statement, ₦7.95bn was released to Havenhill for equipment financing across four projects in Taraba, Kogi, and Kwara, while ₦1.056bn went to Faraday & Otstred Limited for three sites in Niger State.

The allocations follow earlier approvals of ₦7.4bn for Ventura Logistics Services and ₦3.2bn for Zanoplus, reflecting growing financial support for renewable energy infrastructure nationwide.

The funding is backed by the Distributed Access through Renewable Energy Scale-up Programme’s Performance-Based Grant framework, tied to a ₦100bn MoU with Lotus Bank.

REA Managing Director Abba Aliyu described the disbursement as evidence of consistent capital flow into Nigeria’s renewable energy sector.

“This is not a one-off thing; it is a pattern of capital being deployed, projects moving forward, and confidence in the system continuing to grow,” he said.

Aliyu added that the initiative empowers developers with financing and equipment, accelerates timelines for communities to access reliable power, and strengthens confidence in local financing.

He stressed that the agency is committed to enabling Nigerian companies to deliver electricity solutions nationwide, noting that performance-based frameworks are helping to build momentum in renewable energy.

Recently, the REA also disbursed ₦3.2bn to Zanoplus for solar mini-grid projects in Bauchi, part of its mission to close the energy gap in unserved and underserved communities through decentralised solutions.
