Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has encouraged citizens to pray for the peace and development of Kwara State and Nigeria at large.

The Governor who spoke through his Senior Special Assistant on Religious Matters, Reverend Timothy Akangbe, during the celebration of Palm Sunday by Christians in the State emphasized the need for humility, love and unity in daily living.

Thousands of Christians in Kwara State joined their counterparts across the world to mark Palm Sunday, commemorating the triumphant entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem.
The celebration also signals the end of the 40-day Lenten fast and the beginning of Holy Week.
Worshippers from various denominations converged on Saint Barnabas Cathedral, Sabo-Oke, before embarking on a several-hour procession through major parts of Ilorin, including Murtala Way, Maraba, Amilegbe, Ipata, Opo-Malu, Emir’s Road, Taiwo Isale, Unity, and the Post Office area, before returning to the cathedral for a closing benediction.
Addressing participants after the procession, Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Kwara State chapter, Right Reverend Sunday Adewole, urged Christians to remain steadfast in faith and committed to service to God.
He also called on government and security agencies to intensify efforts at safeguarding lives and property, stressing that public safety must remain a top priority.
Adewole further highlighted the impact of rising petroleum prices and persistent electricity shortages on households and businesses, calling for urgent intervention to address the economic challenges.
Former CAN Secretary, Pa Olusola Ajolore, advocated a more proactive approach to tackling insecurity, urging state governments to effectively utilize security votes to protect lives and property.
He also called for job creation and a constitutional review to reflect present-day realities.
Similarly, Senior Prophet Segun Korode of the Cherubim and Seraphim Movement Church, Ilorin District Headquarters, reminded worshippers to continually glorify God and emulate the humility of Jesus Christ, whose life symbolizes salvation for mankind.
The Palm Sunday celebration in Ilorin underscored not only deep spiritual devotion but also a growing call for collective responsibility in promoting faith, security, and socio-economic development.
