A 22-year-old lady has explained why she made the decision to sell her baby to a pastor in Ondo state.
She stated that she sold him for the sum of N10,000, because she is certain that she would be unable to fend for the baby.
Seun Oladayo, who hails from Abejoye in Ondo kingdom said she could not cater for the baby; because the father of the child, one Tope, dumped her the day he was told that she was pregnant.
“I asked the Pastor to take the baby away and bring N10,000…I don’t know how I am going to take care of the baby,” she confessed.
Speaking to journalists, Oladayo said she cut the umbilical cord of the baby after delivery; so that the baby could die but had to sell the baby when she realized that the baby did not die.
However, the pastor identified as Olawale, popularly called Eri Aditu, reported the matter to Amotekun’s office in Ondo.
Subsequently, the young woman was arrested.
He said the baby was given to him in a sack with the placenta by the mother; who was desperate to sell her baby.
