Lagos Police Arrests 520 For Arson, Murder, Other Crimes – Odumosu

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a total number of 520 suspects in the State over alleged involvement in the wanton destruction caused during the EndSARS protest in Lagos State.

Mr. Hakeem Odumosu, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State stated this as he paraded the suspects at the Command headquarters on Tuesday.

According to Odumosu, the suspects were arrested for offences ranging from arson, robbery, murder, rioting, malicious damage and unlawful possession of firearms.

The Commissioner stated further that one of the suspects identified as Olamilekan Ibrahim, 19 years old, was among those who broke into a new Generation Bank in Lekki area of the state and carted away huge sums of money and other valuables.

Odumosu added that the sum of N250, 000 being his own share from the loot and a locally made  pistol was recovered from him.

In the same vein, the Commissioner of Police said that two of the suspects namely Where Reuben, 29 years old, and Samuel Oyediran, 16 years old were arrested by Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) for their involvement in burning of the BRT terminal at Berger and TVC Station respectively.

The suspects, Odumosu added were apprehended with left over of some quantities of petroleum products with which they set the places ablaze.

“The  peaceful protest was hijacked by armed hoodlums who have been responsible for series of killings, arson and looting of many shopping outlets in the state”
