The Lagos State Police Command has recorded another success in its fight against Cultism and Armed Robbery in the State, following the crushing of a notorious robbery/cultist group that has continually unleashed a reign of terror on the residents of Mushin and Idi-Oro Areas of Lagos.
Acting on diligently sourced and managed intelligence, the Command swooped in on the gang and a total of fourteen of the gang members have so far been arrested.
A statement by the command public relations officer, DSP Patricia Amadin, said the State Commissioner of Police, CP Fatai Owoseni has sent an appeal to Lagosians to remain calm and to continue to furnish the Command with vibrant and actionable intelligence, warning all cultists and armed robbers that the Command will employ all legal means within its disposal to decisively deal with them and their sponsors cum benefactors, and that unless and until they desist from such nefarious activities, there shall be no hiding place for them.
The statement also said the Command responded to a distress call when four armed men were spotted on two motor bikes under the Trade-Fair Bridge inward Badagry attempting to rob unsuspecting commuters of their possessions.
‘Upon receipt of the call, the Divisional Police Officer in charge of the Division swiftly led a team of operatives to the scene. The heavily armed hoodlums on sighting the Policemen, immediately engaged them in a fierce gun battle, killing a suspected motorcyclist in the process. Unfortunately, the miscreants escaped but not without varying degrees of gun-shot wounds’ the statement said.
