The Commissioner of Police, in Lagos Imohimi Edgal, has said that crime had become very sophisticated all over the world, and should be fought with higher precision, if the desired result could be achieved.

Edgal while addressing African Security Chiefs in faraway Gambia urged governments of African countries to desist from the traditional ways of tackling crime, but rather adopt the use of modern technology.

Delivering, a paper titled: “The Use of Sciences in modern Day Policing: The Lagos Example”, he said Lagos as an example of a mega city across the globe, was bedeviled with various patterns of crimes that characterised a mega city, such as armed robbery, murder, internet fraud, kidnapping, trans-border crimes, among others.

He said the high rate of migration of people seeking greener pastures with the resultant effect of unprecedented rise in population, without corresponding social infrastructure in place, couple with the scanty socio-economic infrastructure result in vearious security challenges.
