The Lagos States Police Command has clarified that a rape case reported by one Gbemisola, a female is still being investigated, even as it denied that initial revelation in the course of investigation showed the victim was raped.

Deputy Superintendent of Police and public relations officer of the command, Joe Offor in a statement confirmed that a case of rape was actually reported by one Gbemisola ‘F’ against one Kunle Martins ‘M’ at Ketu Police Station.

“While investigation was on going at the above mentioned Police Station a leading print media published that she was raped and her nude pictures posted on the Internet.

This led the Police high Command to direct that the case be transferred to state CID Panti Yaba for discreet investigation” the statement said.

Offor affirmed that investigation revealed that both parties were adults of 19 and 23 years of age respectively and that the duo have been in an intimate relationship and had sexual intercourse a couple of time before the very incident under investigation.

“Both parties agreed that the intercourse of that date was consensual and as such could not have amounted to rape.

Meanwhile other aspects of the allegation are still under investigation. Once more members of the public are by this release advised not to panic as detectives will soon crack the case” he assured.
