The Deputy Governor of Lagos State, at the weekend held two commercial drivers and their buses for driving against traffic.
The offenders were apprehended at Majidun area of Ikorodu, on the outskirts of Lagos.
The buses with registration numbers, FKJ 704 XK and FKJ 864 XV; were driving inward Ikorodu using the outward Ikorodu Lane.
Subsequently, the two buses and the drivers were handed over to the Divisional Police Officer (DPO); at Owode Onirin police station for necessary action.
Hamzat who spoke against the habit of driving against traffic further expressed hope that the development would serve as a deterrent to other drivers.
He urged the authorities to ensure the implementation of traffic laws against errant drivers and road users in Lagos.
Meanwhile, the Lagos State Government has reopened Club Quilox owned by a member of the House of Representatives Shina Peller.
The state’s Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA), announced re-opening Of the club after securing the management’s commitment to comply with the state’s Environmental Laws, Regulations, Guidelines and Standards.
The General Manager, LASEPA, Dr Dolapo Fasawe, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday.
Fasawe noted that the club was reopened after management committed to carrying out its activities; without obstructing the flow of traffic on Ozumba Mbadiwe and other adjoining streets.
Further, Fasawe added that the club’s management promised to ensure its clients’ vehicles were properly parked in designated areas.
She said that the club had also demonstrated firm commitment to ensure that sound emanating from musical events hosted within its facility does not exceed the recommended limits set by the state.
The popular club, owned by Peller had organised a 36-hour non-stop event that led to traffic gridlock/significant noise pollution in the state.
