The Arewa United Political Forum (AUPF), led by Alhaji Mohammed Dandama, has commended the Sarkin Hausawa of Lagos, Alhaji Aminu Yaro Dogara, for distinguishing himself as a philanthropist of the 21st century.
In a statement at the weekend, Dandama disclosed that the Sarkin Hausawa, who doubles as the chairman of the Arewa Council of Chiefs in Lagos state, for gave out huge amount of cash to members of the Arewa community, who were on the verge of losing hope completely as a result of the lockdown caused by COVID-19.
Dandama explained that it would be difficult to identify any northern leader in Lagos who can make such an unexpected gesture to those in difficulty.
The group described the monarch as worthy of celebration for doing what many have failed to do despite their huge financial and material resources.
The AUPF called on the wealthy class in the society to emulate the “beautiful heart and emphaty of the Sarkin Hausawa” adding that it would be helpful in giving the followers of any leader a sense of appreciation and of belonging.
The group also said the the Lagos State Government needs to set up an independent audit to ascertain the whereabout of the tons of rice it was reported to have set aside for the Arewa community in Lagos, urging Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to ensure ensure something is done in that regard.
