The Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF), led by the Executive Secretary, Dr Ayodele Ogunsan, on Tuesday August 11, 2026, paid a courtesy visit to the Commander, Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) BEECROFT, Commodore A Adams-Aliu, to strengthen cooperation and foster closer coordination in addressing security challenges across Lagos State and its maritime domain.
During the visit, the Executive Secretary of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund highlighted the Fund’s continued commitment to supporting security agencies across the State through targeted interventions aimed at strengthening operational capacity and boosting personnel morale. He disclosed that the Fund donated 50 ballistic helmets, 50 bulletproof vests and 100 raincoats to NNS BEECROFT, while noting that additional areas of intervention identified during the engagement would be addressed in due course. He further emphasised that the interventions were intended to bridge identified gaps within the security architecture of the State and enhance the capacity of security agencies to effectively safeguard lives and property, particularly as the State approaches a sensitive election period.
Receiving the delegation, Commodore Adams-Aliu expressed appreciation to Dr Ogunsan and the LSSTF for the visit and acknowledged the Fund’s contributions to strengthening security efforts across Lagos State. He reaffirmed the Nigerian Navy’s commitment to maintaining strong relationships with government institutions, sister agencies and other relevant stakeholders in support of national security.
The Commander stressed that the evolving nature of security challenges requires sustained cooperation and effective coordination among stakeholders. He noted that regular engagement and timely information sharing would further enhance the ability of security agencies to respond effectively to threats within the State, particularly along its waterways and maritime approaches. This is in line with the mission of the Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas (Admiralty Medal), which is “to deploy a highly motivated and professional naval force capable of safeguarding Nigeria’s maritime interests and contributing effectively to joint operations in defence of national sovereignty and the maintenance of internal stability.”
