The Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) has begun the installation of project facilities in Kano and Lagos Area Control Centres (ACCs) simultaneously.
The project is in line with its September 2015 deadline for the take off of the Automatic Dependent Surveillance- Contract /Controller Pilot Data Link Communication (ADS-C/CPDLC) in the country,
The equipment which include both hardware and software systems consists of SITA AIRCOM ATS systems, controller working positions, switches, display systems, modems and redundant power systems.
Others include link connectivity platforms, Human Machine Interface (HMI), Air Traffic Situation Awareness Display, ACARS Access Gateways (AAG), FANS Front End Systems (FFE), Fame Simulators, work stations as well as recorder/replay systems.
Commenting, the Managing Director of NAMA, Engr. Ibrahim Abdulsalam expressed optimism that the quality of infrastructure being deployed by the agency and the expertise of trained personnel would further enhance the ongoing digitalization of air traffic management systems in country.
