The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) has banned Nigerian musician, Falz’ song, ‘This is Nigeria.’
This was disclosed in a letter from the NBC dated 6th August 2018 and signed by its Zonal Director, Igomu Onoja.
According to NBC, a part of the song – “This is Nigeria; look how we living now everybody be criminal” has been tagged “vulgar” and the song is now declared “unfit for radio”.
Also banned from being aired was singer, Wande Cole’s song: ‘Iskaba’ alongside Olamide’s ‘.See Mary, See Jesus’.
Meanwhile, ace rapper, Folarin Falana, popularly called Falz, has condemned the alleged ban of his song, This is Nigeria, by the National Broadcasting Commission.
On his Instagram page, Falz shared a picture of the letter allegedly written by NBC zonal office in Jos to a media organisation in the zone, fining it for playing certain songs, including Falz’s.
He captioned the social media post: “This is Nigeria. Look how we living now, everybody be criminal” is apparently a vulgar line.
