NBPlc Wins 2017 Pearl Award For Sectoral Leadership

Nigerian Breweries Plc has been honoured for its outstanding performance in the Consumer Goods Sector of the Nigerian economy at the 2017 Pearl Awards.

The company was presented with the 2017 Sectoral Leadership Award in the Consumer Goods Category (Breweries) at the event, which held at the Grand Ball Room, Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.

While commenting on the award, Kufre Ekanem, the Corporate Affairs Adviser, Nigerian Breweries Plc, stated: “We view this award as a recognition of our previous performances and as our call to duty to keep delivering value.

“As Nigeria’s foremost brewer, our commitment to our shareholders and other stakeholders drives our passion for high performance and delivery of quality, not just in our product offering, but in all our interactions with Nigeria.

“We remain committed to these values.”

Ekanem thanked the organisers of the award for the recognition and congratulated them for sustaining the initiative over the last 22 years.

Nigerian Breweries emerged winner in the Consumer Goods (Breweries) category where Guinness Nigeria Plc and International Breweries Plc were also nominated.

The event drew attendance from dignitaries, including General Yakubu Gowon (retd), former Head of State; Governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode, who was represented by the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Hon. Lola Akande; Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Stock Exchange, Oscar Onyema; immediate past president of the Council of the Nigerian Stock Exchange, Aigboje Aig Imoukhuede; and captains of industry among other guests.

The PEARL (Performance Earning and Returns Leadership) Awards Project was instituted in 1995 with an annual Awards Night to recognize and reward publicly quoted companies for outstanding operational and stock performance in order to enhance the vibrancy, growth and development of the Capital Market..

Criteria for the Pearl Awards are based on verifiable indices, facts and figures published in the Nigerian Stock Market Annual.
