ND Western Nigeria Limited, has said it will execute more investments in the country’s oil and gas industry keying into the Government’s energy transition initiative.

The promise follows excellence gas Sector leadership award bestowed on ND Western’s Vice Chairman, Dr Layi Fatona.

The award was in recognition of his contribution to Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.

Fatona was honored with Excellence in Gas Sector Leadership award by the Nigeria Gas Association (NGA) at the just concluded Nigeria International Energy Summit (NIES) in Abuja.

The NIES is the official industry event of the Federal Government of Nigeria and the only officially endorsed at the highest level of the Federal Executive Council where both players in the private and public sector within and outside the country gather annually to discuss germane issues affecting the energy industry, while the NGA is the professional body responsible for the promotion and protection of the interests of the gas industry in Nigeria.

Receiving the award on behalf of Dr. Fatona, Mr. Kingsley Ajie, ND Western’s Head of Business Planning & Economics thanked the NGA for recognizing “Dr Fatona’s leadership excellence. He has indeed paved way for many of us and it is a great honour for me to be receiving this award in his stead. Dr would have loved to be here in person but he is unavoidably absent.”

“This award is a testament to Dr. Fatona’s years of meritorious service, spanning several decades and his immense contribution to the growth of Nigeria’s oil and gas sector. It is commendable to see that honour is being given to whom is due. Thank you once again, Dr. Fatona is grateful, and we all are proud to associate with the NGA,” Mr Ajie said.

Dr Fatona, a Petroleum Geologist with more than forty years of oil industry experience is the pioneer chairman of Niger Delta Exploration and Production (NDEP).

He graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Geology at the University of Ibadan (Nigeria) in 1973 and obtained both the Master of Science and Doctorate degrees in Petroleum Geology and Sedimentology from the Royal School of Mines, Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine, University of London.

The ND Western Limited (ND Western) is an independent Nigerian oil and gas exploration and production company made up of a consortium of four companies; Niger Delta Petroleum Resources Limited (NDPR), Petrolin Trading Limited (PETROLIN), FIRST Exploration & Petroleum Development OML 34 Limited and Walter-Smith Exploration and Production Limited. It is a world-class energy company of choice in Africa, effectively and prudently producing oil and gas for industrial and power customers across the west coast of Africa.
