Niger State Police Arrests 4 Suspected Armed Robbers, Recover Firearms

The Niger State Police Command, have arrested some suspected criminals and recovered from them quantities of arms and ammunition.

According to Wasiu Abiodun, spokesman of the Command, “On 10/08/2020 at about 0200hrs, acting on information SARS Operatives attached to Suleja, arrested one Abubakar Adamu age 35yrs ‘m’ of Kuspa area in Suleja inside a red Honda Civic Car with Reg. NO. AY 280 KTN, and when searched, 375 rounds of AK-47 live ammunitions and 7 AK-47 magazines were recovered.”

Abiodun disclosed that during interrogation, suspect confessed to be member of armed robbery/kidnapping syndicate, who specializes in transporting arms and ammunitions for the syndicate.

The case is under investigation and effort to arrest other members of the gang is on going.

ALso, “On 02/08/2020 at about 1100hrs an information was received that about six unknown gunmen invaded Kuchi village, Sarkin-Pawa in Munya LGA and kidnapped a female victim to unknown destination.

“On receipt of the information, Police Operatives attached to Sarkin-Pawa division swung into action and arrested two of the suspects (1) Aliyu Bangaje age 30yrs (2) Yusuf Maikoma age 28yrs both ‘m’ of Mararaba Dandaudu and Injita villages in Munya LGA.”

According to the spokesman, “During interrogation, the suspects confessed to be members of a six man gang and that the victim was handed over to them to be taken to Babur Kabula forest in Munya LGA. Victim was rescued unhurt while exhibits recovered includes, two locally made short guns, knife and cutlass.”

He said the case is under investigation, while effort to arrest other members of the gang is on going.

Similarly, “On 07/08/2020 at about 1500hrs, based on a tip-off, Police Operatives attached to SARS Minna arrested one Onuwa Stephen age 37yrs ‘m’ of Benin, Edo State.”

The suspect was arrested at Obasanjo Shopping Complex Minna while he was about to purchase a large number of Phones with another person’s ATM card. During interrogation, the suspect confessed to have loitered around the premises of a Commercial Bank in Minna where he spied some customers at the ATM gallery; he was able to retrieve a customer’s ATM card from the machine and accessed the account.

Abiodun said the suspect will be charged to court as soon as investigation is concluded.

He said that the Command under the leadership of CP Adamu Usman will continue to do the needful towards ensuring a secured and safe environment for the Nigerlites, while members of the public were urged to always give useful information to the security agencies for prompt intervention.
