Stakeholders in the Nigeria insurance sector have begun the reform strategy to give a new face to the industry that has suffered decades of non performance.

Vice Chairman Sub Committee Publicity of the Insurers Committee, who is also the Managing Director, NSIA Insurance Company Limited, Ebelechukwu Nwachukwu, said in Lagos, that the long awaited rebranding initiative will begin Friday June 1.

She noted that the industry having put all the necessary requirements in place, is set to launch the project which is expected to transform insurance operations in the country.

Mrs Nwachukwu also maintained that the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM), in partnership with insurance operators, has set out seven cardinal goals that will be vigorously be pursued to take the industry to lofty heights.

Earlier, insurance operators had agreed to raise 50 per cent of the funds for the rebranding project from companies gross premium income, and the balance 50 per cent, shared evenly amongst themselves.

The initiative, according to the committee, will be driven via social media, print and electronics, adding that greater attention will be on the social media due to the youth population.
