A wider consultation with both local and international stakeholders in the aviation sector would hold early next year where local insurance industry participation in the aviation sector would take priority mention.
This anticipated meeting had begun with a high level stakeholders follow up meeting of the Insurance and Aviation sectors convened in Abuja at Transcorp Hilton Hotel.
The meeting which was chaired by the Honorable Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Mr. Festus Keyamo, also had in attendance the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, Chairman Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and other financial institutions Sen. Munkhail Abiru, Chairman House Committee on Insurance and Actuarial Matters Hon. Ahmed Jaha, representatives of the Nigeria Civil Authority, PEBEC, Nigeria Insurers Association, Nigeria Council of Registered Insurance Brokers, Airline Operators of Nigeria amongst other stakeholders.
The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace in his opening remark appreciated all stakeholders for accepting the invitation and stated that the meeting was crucial for the progress of the operations of the airline operators and the growth of the Nigerian insurance market.
It was agreed that a wider meeting of the Nigerian delegation with the international lessors and financiers is going to be held early next year.
This planned summit is expected to foster direct dialogue, addressing financing concerns and creating favorable conditions for both local and foreign investments in Nigeria’s aviation industry. The initiative aims to strengthen Nigeria’s position as a competitive hub for aviation services in Africa, bolstered by a supportive insurance environment.
The meeting marks a significant step toward aligning policy frameworks and operational standards to facilitate seamless cooperation across aviation and insurance sectors, setting a foundation for enhanced industry growth and sustainability.
