The Nigeria Customs Service is ramping up efforts to roll out the National Single Window (NSW) project, positioning itself as the lead agency in Nigeria’s trade modernisation push. During a 4 March 2026 stakeholder meeting in Abuja with airline and shipping operators, Comptroller-General of Customs urged collaboration, crediting partners for past modernisation successes and noting the President’s directive to make NSW a reality.
He assured operators of support structures, including a dedicated help desk with trained staff to handle rollout challenges, ensuring a smooth transition that cements Nigeria’s global trade standing.
At a prior awareness session on 3 March 2026, Deputy Comptroller-General of Customs (ICT and Modernisation) Oluyomi Adebakin called NSW a key modernisation milestone, built on months of preparation to match operational needs. “Customs leads execution, but success hinges on everyone’s buy-in,” she said, clarifying technology will boost efficiency and transparency without replacing staff.
NSW Project Director Tola Fakolade praised NCS leadership: “Customs is our top stakeholder, their expertise drives this.” The initiative promises faster cargo clearance, better revenue collection, and stronger inter-agency coordination, transforming Nigeria’s trade landscape.
